Research Interests

Research Summary

Her scholarly interests are in the areas of Adventure Education and teacher preparation. She has presented numerous times at International and National conferences in the areas of Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education.

Honors

Dr. Sutherland received the Program Recognition Award from the Adapted Physical Activity Council of AAHPERD in 2005 for her work with The Adapted Adventure Sports Coalition. She also received a federal grant from the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services to work in the area of adventure based activities for individuals with disabilities.
